This role is with a start-up who have recently secured £3.7m funding to develop complex computer models which help predict & manage climate change.
Their technology is so impressive they’ve even had the likes of Google and the US Environmental Protection Agency partnering with them ?. Started by 4 people at Uni of Bristol, including a very well-known expert in flood modelling they take a completely different approach to flood modelling, using satellites to predict how water will rise and what areas would be affected and doing this on a global scale.
The team are made up of 24 people and looking to double in size over the next 18 months. Originally their work was just for research, but they discovered that there are loads of people who would benefit from their tech and algorithms. Their tech uses high performance computing to model terabytes of data every day. Their website provides a visual representation of how floods can affect areas, it’s really easy and intuitive to understand. Plus, they are such cool people and the CEO is known for a strong Hawaiian shirt selection!

We’re looking for someone who can cover some, not all as we get you may not tick every single box, but some of this:
- SPAC : SpatioTemporal Asset Catalogs
- REST API
- Mapbox GL JS
You’ll get a chance to get into Machine Learning if you want to, also get exposure to R and Shiny so if you would like to broaden your skillset outside of Software Engineering this is for you! You’ll be working on technology that helps to visualise flood and create interactive maps, developing rest API’s and are afraid to do some front end bits.
You can work fully remotely if you would like, but expect to travel to the office (central Bristol) once a month, more if you would like. Although they don’t have space for everyone to be in the office at once. Super chill!
Salary up to £60,000 with some great benefits for a company of their age and size.
