Engineering Manager | Fully Remote Working (building a brand new remote UK team)

Salary up to £90k + bonus + share options + unlimited holiday allowance

Join one of the UK’s fastest growing tech start-ups whilst they scale up after huge success & investment!

Are you an experienced Engineering Manager looking for an opportunity where you can build, shape, and inspire a brand-new team of highly skilled full stack software engineers working in a product environment?

I’m looking for an EM who has… been there & done that as an engineer in the past, enjoys providing leadership/technical direction and above all is passionate about bringing the best out of their team even when having to steer them through choppy waters.

Sound like you? Cast your eyes below!

The Company / Opportunity

Here is your chance to be the first hire within a brand-new exciting product team, working for one of the UK’s fastest growing tech start-ups who have recently received their Series C investment round of over £100 million big ones! It’s fair to say this is a unique and the sort of role that is highly sought-after. I’m looking for someone special to come on board and set the culture of the new team by attracting talent, setting & shaping the culture of the team, and ensuring that ultimately software is being delivered in the most efficient way. You’ll be supporting your squad through designing and building product features for a highly intelligent data-driven platform that is transforming the way some of the biggest companies are attracting talent around the world.

SR2 are thrilled to have partnered up with this business exclusively, to entirely focus on building their brand-new UK Remote engineering team. It’s a full-stack team who will have full ownership of their product and are leveraging technologies such as React, Node.js, Kubernetes, GoLang, GCP, MongoDB and more…

A bit about their culture:

Not only are they using some of the most cutting-edge technologies to build product features, but they also offer an incredible working culture (have lovely people!) and great company benefits to really set you up for your career with them, such as the chance to have a slice of the companies success with share options, private healthcare and of course let’s not forget they offer staff an unlimited holiday allowance.

Whilst you will be the first in a new team (that you’ll be building), you can entrust and be reassured you’ll have full support of their people team and senior engineers from across the business – they are all a very reliable, helpful, and friendly bunch of humans who are always looking to bring the best out in each other.

Ok, now let’s get down to some of the essential experience needed ?

If I met a genie and was given 3 wishes, I’d ask for an Engineering Manager who was…

  1. First and foremost, an empathetic servant leader with experience of line managing software teams (ideally with experience managing remote teams please Genie ?)
  2. Secondly, they would be coming from a technical background meaning they are credible in the mind of their engineers (not afraid to get their hands a little dirty on occasions – hand sanitiser provided of course)
  3. Thirdly, you’ve got the skills and experience required to attract, hire and create a culture for a new team of engineers who you’ll be line manging daily. (think: goal setting, career plans/progression, code reviews, leadership, dealing with stakeholders and all that jazz!)

I know that was quite specific… but who said you couldn’t be specific when being granted 3 wishes from a Genie?!

Please apply directly or reach out to Steph Jackson from SR2 on Linkedin if you have any further questions about the opportunity. The client can move extremely fast for the right candidate with an estimated time to hire of 7-10 days.
